PREVENTION OF MODERN LIFESTYLE DISEASES

It is important to realise that lack of exercise and stress are the most important factors responsible for perils of modernisation. In addition to the stress induced by the modern competitive society, fuel is added to the fire by cutting down the number of hours we sleep. In the earlier days one used to sleep by 9 to 9.30 pm, whereas these days people don't go to bed before 11.30 or even 12. We collectively averaged 8 to 10 hours a night whereas now that number has been reduced to 6 to 7 hours. This means that the body and mind are deprived of at least 20% of rest which has been declining progressively on daily basis. Additionally, the onset of fast food culture has also provided a hazardous effect on the health of individuals. Consistently eating high fatty foods leads to the deposition of cholesterol in the arteries that eventually lead to their blockage.
It needs to be emphasized that what one eats during childhood determines their future health. It is therefore important to encourage children to maintain a healthy diet instead of fast food like pizza, burgers, chips, and aerated drinks.
Thus a healthy diet of eating everything in moderation and avoiding deep fried snacks and sweets on a regular basis is of great importance in preventing diseases of modern generation. Physical activity and exercise is the cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle, which is critical for improving one's health and extending their life span. Hence a healthy lifestyle of rest, relaxation, and exercise along with a healthy dietary regime is the best way to counteract the perils of modernisation.
