A RARE CASE OF SPONTANEOUS REMISSION IN CANCER

Spontaneous Remission in some of the cases of incurable diseases has been documented in medical science. Such incidents are no doubt rare but it is also a hard fact that such an internal healing does occur. We do not know the exact mechanism behind such a miraculous cure, but it is neither mystical nor random. There must be some mechanism presently unknown to the medical science. It is also true that similar healing response does not occur in every individual, but when it occurs in a few cases, it is all the more important to know the master-key involved in this mechanism.

Medical practitioners have been trained in scientific methods where they know the predictable outcome of various types of malignancies and other incurable diseases based on Statistics. Modern medical science gives importance to disease rather than the person. What is required is to study the person as a whole rather than concentrating on the physical aspects of the disease only.

In retrospect, when I look back at my past and present experience as a professional physician, I am overwhelmed and intrigued to recollect some of the bizarre events, happenings and amazing recovery stories of my patients and acquaintances suffering from chronic ailments and terminal afflictions. How they bounced back to normalcy and regained their health against all the adversities and physical manifestations?

As an example of such a miraculous healing I am inclined to recount and illustrate a true case history of one of my relative who had spontaneous regression while suffering from an incurable malignancy.

Mr S.P(name changed)had been undergoing treatment with Gardenal and Dilantin for epileptic seizures since 1969. After CT scan in 1983, he was diagnosed to be a case of malignant brain tumour (Astrocytoma) at the age of 51years. He was operated by a famous neurosurgeon of that time, professor Dr Mathai at Christian Medical college, Vellore. As the tumour was infiltrating the adjacent tissue widely, only minor excision could be performed with removal of the overlying skull bone. He was given a course of chemotherapy for three months and radiation for six weeks. Later on, he consulted another famous neurosurgeon in UK Dr Norman Grant. On examiamination he found him to be in an advanced stage , where nothing more could be done and chances of survival was very low not extending beyond 5-6 months. Disheartened he returned back to his home in patna, and concentrated in fulfilling his liabilities as his children's were young and unsettled. He also joined his office and started working there instead of seeking any alternative therapy.I used to meet him off and on just to cheer him up and alleviate his suffering. He surrendered to God wish and his destiny ignoring the pains of physical afflictions. Having resigned to his fate and with the will of Almighty he survived more than ten years mustering courage and willpower. He retired from service in the year 1992 and died in the year 1994.

Now the question remains to be answered, how this happened against the prediction of renowned specialists? How could he prolonged his terminal cancer? perhaps we have no answer and understanding of the internal mechanism of healing process that functions behind the scene. Late Mr.S.P is not the only such a case of medical miracle, there are umpteen instances of similar incidence in the voluminous documentation of patients case histories. phenomena like this is called wonders in the medical parlance which is beyond the realm of scientific deductions and rationale.

As a physician, I am inclined to believe and affirm that the complex human biological (Mind/body) system has an enormous hidden energy(pranic energy or life force) to fight the onslaught of physical maladies. Once the patient starts participating with the ailments with generation of positive outlook, mind control, subduing all the negative tendencies and depressive thoughts, healing automatically takes place.
Certainly, it is an act of balancing the human energy field in perfect rhythm and resonance with the cosmic consciousness which is capable of producing extraordinary results beyond our expectations.

An important point to consider in this brief case history is the attitude expressed by late SP in relation to his terminal illness. He refused to believe he is destined to die, just because the doctors told him so. He did not even try to fight out the disease with the help of doctors. He did not entertain depression and fear of death nor he prayed to God to change the symptom and cure him. Rather he simply believed that God's grace will prevail, no matter what happens. Was it a case of regression of the disease where no specific formula is followed, when all formulas are abandoned with astonishing results?

Whatever may be the process of this miraculous healing, the message is very clear that there is a possibility of cure even in an incurable disease. Have self-confidence and courage. Do not brood over possible failures. Fear makes us shaky and indifferent towards our objective. But above all, have faith and trust in Almighty.

  3. Respected Uncle,
    Pranam
Your blogs are truly informative and very useful for a common man, especially in a time when the costs of medical solutions are exorbitantly high and their rate of success is also debatable.

In a time when lives are becoming complex, and so are solutions, your emphasis on individual positivity as an effective prevention and cure is an immortal truth which is getting increasingly accepted by the modern scientific fraternity also. After all, there is a science of experience and realization, what we call spirituality, beyond the science of logic and evidence. In my view, where the modern science ends, spirituality which is a science of positivity, begins.

I have seen and known you practicing both. You blended modern science and spirituality very well. You brought science and service together. Who would this better than I do.

I am blessed that we have you in our lives.

    Regards
    Madhusudan
